All about peridot!

You will find various shades of this green stone ranging from a yellow green, olive green, bright lime green, brownish green and the rarist is the bright vibrant pure green. The various colors of green come from the amount of iron that is in the crystal. The majority of peridots are mined from Myanmar, Pakistan, China, and the United States with Arizona being one of the largest sources in the world.

The name peridot comes from Greek origin meaning ‘gold’ and ‘stone’. The Egyptians would refer to this stone as “gem of the sun”. Throughout history the stone has been used by different cultures for beads, rings, and other jewelry. Many would wear peridot as a way to ward off evil spirits, confer the energy of royalty to the wearer, and believed to bring prosperity.
